A turn of the ignition key and from behind you comes a smooth well oiled whir as the 12 cylinders catch and the engine settles to a 640 bhp and 214mph potential. Click the right paddle towards you, a large 1 appears on the dashboard display. Smoothly open the throttle – the car glides forward, accelerate more and the gears smoothly and instantly change with each click of the paddle.
