I've been using an iPod Nano first generation for years now and love it. Although 2GB, which was the largest at the time, is a bit restrictive and I have to be really selective about what songs I put on it since I hit the 2GB mark long ago. So, when my hubby said he wanted to buy me a new iPod Touch 8GB I thought “No way, get me a normal 30GB iPod, it's much better value for money.” That is, until I saw the iPod Touch in person.

It has a large colour screen (3.5”) great for watching videos and movies or surfing the web. Yes the web. It has built in wi-fi which means you can view the internet where ever there is a wi-fi network. One really cool feature it that when you reposition the iPod from a vertical position to horizontal, the screen actually moves with it! The picture quality is really good too, much better than I would expect.

It comes with a few nifty applications. Some I wouldn't use, some I would. Like the calculator is quite handy, the different time zone clocks, the calendar, notes, contacts and road map. But I really don't think I'll have any need for the weather or stocks update options.

As the name indicates, everything is activated by touching the screen. No more dials. Just click on the icon and it brings up the feature you are after. Want to search the web? Just put your finger on the search bar and it will bring up a keyboard - typing can be a little tricky if you have big fingers like me.

Overall, very impressed. Although, I would say for traveling to and from work I still use my old iPod for ease of use since I can operate it one handed, while the iPod Touch is great for long travels in a car or flight or even just to use around the house.
