The Departed is the 2006 epic directed by the legendary Martin Scorsese that picked up four Academy Awards, and once you have watched this film, it will not be difficult to see why.

Upon looking at the cast of this film, you automatically get the feeling that this will be something special. With the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg playing major roles in this film, you should expect a memorable film, and it does not disappoint.

The plot of the film follows an old Irish mob boss, Francis Costello (Nicholson) who controls the Boston gang scene. He has one of his protégé's (Damon) planted in the Boston Police Force, using him as an informant. During this time the Boston Police Force has a young undercover cop (DiCaprio) informing from within Costello's mob.

The Departed contains some of the best film dialogue in many years, the best I have seen since the turn of the millennium.

The acting also adds to the truly memorable dialogue, with Jack Nicholson producing a performance to equal that of his in 'The Shining' that shows his stunning display of his array of acting talents. Jack Nicholson manages to play out his character with so much belief that the audience will get the feeling of how obnoxious a man Francis Costello really is.

The Departed is a true, raw tale of betrayal. The film contains so many twists and turns along the way that provides one surprise after the other. Coincidentally, supporting The Departed is also an excellent soundtrack, containing many classic songs that just add to the ambience of the film.

In my personal opinion, this is a truly memorable film and a must see for anyone. Martic Scorsese has provided us with another masterpiece and you would be foolish not to go out and buy a copy of The Departed.
