28 Days Later (2002)

I went to see this film at the cinema seeing as all my friends were so excited about seeing it. Although, I was very disappointed in the film, I did like the fact that it wasn't a normal zombie film, but over all I thought it could have been better.

I liked the idea that it wasn't a matter of a slow walking zombie biting you to turn you into a zombie your self, it was in the blood as a disease so even getting the slightest cut could be the end of you. Plus, the zombies are in fact not zombies as they can run, smash their way into houses, climb and actually think.

In a way, it was more of a survival film as you follow a group of people doing their best to stay alive while they are being chased by these infected people. It does show you how it all starts when a group of animal cruelty protesters break into a lab with the intention of setting all the animals free but find that every single caged animal looks violently mad as they have been experimented on with what the files say is "Rage".

Crashing around in their cages, their eyes are blood red. There is even one monkey which is strapped to a chair with its eyes held open watching different scenes of violence on a number of TV screens in front of it. This is of course what the other animals have had to go through and that is why they are all mad. But it has somehow changed the cells in their blood and a disease has been created. When the animal protesters start letting the animals out of their cages, they are attacked and end up with the disease themselves.

28 days later, a man called Jim who had an accident just before the lab incident, wakes up from a coma in hospital to find it completely empty. He leaves the hospital to find the whole of London in silence, there is no one to be seen anywhere as far as he can see, but someone can see him. He soon attracts some of the infected people and only just escapes when 2 other survivors Mark and Selena help him. Jim insists on going to his parent's house to make sure they are ok, only to find that they have committed a joint suicide. But now the race is on to get to the safety of an area near Manchester which has been made military safe.
